EGearMoto: Pioneering India's Mid-Drive Revolution
How EGearMoto is building India's most advanced electric e-bicycle with a patent-pending mid-drive system designed for steep terrain and real-world exploration
India's electric mobility story has largely been told through scooters and cars. But what about the 70% of Indian terrain that isn't flat? What about the hill
towns, forest trails, industrial sites, and off-grid communities where conventional EVs simply can't go?
That's the problem EGearMoto was built to solve.
What is a Mid-Drive System?
Unlike hub motors — where the motor is built into the wheel — a mid-drive system places the motor at the center of the bike, near the pedals. This gives the rider
a massive advantage on steep terrain: the motor works with the bike's gears, delivering power more efficiently on climbs.
EGearMoto's patent-pending mid-drive system, called Uphill™ Boost, takes this further. It intelligently detects terrain and adds extra torque exactly when you need
it — on the climb — while keeping flat-road riding smooth and controlled.
Built in India, for Indian Terrain
Every component of the Uphill™ platform has been designed with Indian roads in mind. The military-grade monocoque frame is laser-cut for precision and durability.
The 720Wh LiFePO4 battery delivers over 1,500 charge cycles — far outlasting standard lithium-ion packs — and saves riders over ₹50,000 per year in fuel costs.
Field testing has been done on steep mountain terrain, rough forest trails, and urban hill roads. Multiple working prototypes have been validated in real-world
conditions.
Three Configurations. One Platform.
The Uphill™ platform comes in three variants:
- Uphill — urban terrain, 20" wheels, city and utility use
- Uphill WB — off-road terrain, 24" wheels, trails and mixed terrain
- Uphill X — advanced traction, tactical and adventure ready (coming soon)
What's Next
EGearMoto is now preparing for its early rider program and pilot deployments. DPIIT recognized and IP-protected, the company is entering its next phase — bringing
the Uphill™ platform to real riders across India.
Pre-registration is open now. Be among the first.
